Our calculation methodology

Our avoided-emissions figures are calculated using explicit methodology and data published by the European Commission (JRC, 2021), based on our actual production and material records.

Avoided Emissions

We estimate avoided greenhouse gas emissions by comparing recycled plastics to an equivalent amount of virgin polymer (product perspective, PEF / Circular Footprint Formula). This calculation covers collection, sorting, and recycling—accounting for material quality adjustments—while excluding shaping, which remains identical in both scenarios.

Limits of Our Calculations

  • Workshop electricity use is currently excluded and will be published separately as we track it.
  • These factors reflect European recycling and energy standards.
  • We withhold water metrics until our suppliers' consumption is fully documented.

Designed for the upcoming European digital passport

The European Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) provides for a digital passport for many product categories, including furniture. We already record the origin of the material, the batches and the estimated impact of each product, so that we are ready when the requirements are published.
